The New Chemicals Policy - REACH
Based on concerns that existing chemicals legislation was not capable of responding adequately to public concern in Europe, the European Commission published its proposals for “Regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restrictions of CHemicals - REACH” (CEC, 2003a) on 29th Oct 2003
The draft legislation is planned to replace over 40 (out of about 60) existing directives and regulations, and will implement the proposals set out in the Commission's February 2001 White Paper on chemicals. |
